Three Vietnamese artists named in Asia Records

They are Meritorious Artist-Director Nguyen Van Luong, painter Truong Han Minh and painter Dang Ai Viet.

Director Nguyen Van Luong sets an Asia record for making the most number of films in different categories on the country, 221 in all, and many on the people and islands of Vietnam since 1988 to present day.

Painter Truong Han Minh was recognized for having the most watercolor paintings which were auctioned for charity. About 200 art works were sold at auctions from 1977 to 2013.

Truong Han Minh was born in 1951 in Cho Lon in Ho Chi Minh City. He originally came from Guang Dong in China. He had a passion for painting since early childhood. Truong Han Minh is also Chairperson of the Chinese Fine Arts Association and a member of Vietnamese Fine Arts Association. He has taught at many Art schools in the City.

The painter is a master in traditional Chinese watercolor paintings in Vietnam with 60 years experience in watercolor painting.

His paintings have been displayed at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum; Ho Chi Minh City Museum; Museum of the Nationalities in Vietnam; and in many other countries such as the U.S., France, Australia, Canada, Japan, China and Taiwan (China).

Painter Dang Ai Viet was recognized for painting 1,000 portraits of Heroic Mothers. The paintings depict the different faces of Heroic Mothers whose sons and daughters died in the American War. The works show their happiness as well as their pain.

As a former soldier herself and a mother, the painter understands the pain suffered by the Heroic Mothers. "They are typical images of Vietnamese women’s sacrifice and indomitable spirit. I want to save all their faces for future generations", she said.

The certificates will be presented to the record holders in late May, during the Director General of the Asian Record Organization’s visit to the three Indochina countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
